I wanted to let you know that there will be a science study guide coming home today. We will have our chapter 3 science test on May 3rd. We have gone over almost all of the material, but a little of it will be new this week.

March reading log

Reminder:
March reading logs need to be turned in by this Wednesday, April 14th, in order to get the full points and pizza certificate.

Also, keep sending in the box tops and milk caps! It is a great way to help the school!

St. Patrick's Day

Next Wednesday our class will be doing a couple St. Patrick's Day themed activities.

1) I will have the students complete a scavenger hunt that will lead to a special green treat I have for them.

2) The students are all invited to bring in a green food item that they can share with the class. If your child would like to do this, please send their green food item with them to school on Wednesday.

March Book Report

Today the students were given 3 very important items that they will need for their March book report. Please make sure that your child has shown you these items. The final report (and all of the parts) are due March 25th. If your child is unsure of their book choice, please have them show it to me. As always, contact me with any questions you may have.

Cleaning away the germs....

We are down to our last two bottles of anti-bacterial wipes, if you are able to donate more it would be greatly appreciated. The students all wipe their desks in the morning, sometimes during the day, and I use them to clean up around our room, so we go through them pretty fast.

Word of the Day

The students really seem to be enjoying the Word of the Day, and they have been doing a great job. One thing that we have been talking about quite a bit lately is writing definitions that are not easy to understand. I have talked with the students about trying not to write words that they cannot pronounce or that they don't know what they mean. Naturally this prevents them from the goal of this assignment, which is to learn new and interesting words. Please work with your child to make sure they understand the word, and that they are not just copying something from the dictionary. We did an example with the word from today, and they seemed to have a good understanding of a well written definition. Thank you for your help!
